Provincial Minister for Women’s Development Sindh Syeda Shehla Raza was met by the representative delegation of the World Bank in her office and discussed the issues of mutual interest. The delegation included Practice Manager, South Asia for Social Sustainability and Inclusion Global Practice, Dr. Robin Mearns, Farhan, Babar, Uzma and others. On this occasion, the delegation informed the provincial minister about the aims and objectives of the World Bank and said that the World Bank is trying to strengthen social stability and women in Pakistan, especially in Sindh. He said that the World Bank not only wants to help and rehabilitate the flood victims, but after the rehabilitation, it also wants to take steps to solve the problems of women in collaboration with the Women’s Development Department. He said that he was also concerned about forced abduction of women, forced early marriages and domestic violence. He described the laws of Sindh as more effective than those of Punjab regarding domestic violence. On this occasion, Provincial Minister Syeda Shehla Raza said that we have organized awareness programs to help the flood victims in collaboration with other NGOs and have also organized various courses in Darul Aman and other places to improve their economic condition. Better to get them back on their feet. And surprisingly we got significant results. He said that we are organizing more programs regarding the sixteen-day activities starting from November 25, in which we will be very happy if the World Bank also participates. On this occasion, the World Bank delegation also assured of their full support. Earlier, Provincial Minister Syeda Shehla Raza welcomed the World Bank delegation and gave them a tour of the Women’s Complaint Center and provided details about the procedure for registering complaints on the helpline number 1094.
